Sergio Luciani has changed the face of Bonsai in South America, his Talent, enthusiasm, energy, zest for life, and his wonderful sense of humour has inspired hundreds of enthusiasts to engage with bonsai. Often seen on the world stage his style of demonstration is a joy to behold, mixing a huge talent and amusing antidotes Sergio informs and entertains in equal measure. He welcomes students of all abilities and ages, often holding workshops alongside epic Barbeques. Hundreds of students have attended the Bonsai school “Estudio Bonsái Argento – Sergio Luciani” and Sergio has held many events and shows promoting Bonsai in Argentina, he is a true trailblazer.
Sergio Luciani was nominated by his students and received his Award at Bonsai Namaste, Pune, India in February 2018.
About Sergio Luciani
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 20, 1969, graphic design professional, Sergio did not know the bonsai until 1999, when he made his first initial course in Bonsai Studio of M. Gurruchaga, who would become his teacher, partner and friend.
After participation in many international bonsai events, he co-edited the Bonsai Handbook in 2005 with Emecé editors. Exhibitions and trips abroad gave him enough knowledge to win the 1st Prize of the Senior Bonsai Contest during the Bonsai Matsuri the same year, in the Japanese Garden of Buenos Aires, a competition that would also reward him in his two subsequent presentations, both in 2007 and 2008, with an International Jury.
